Meaningful stories and moments

As a landscape photographer, you don't just collect pictures over the years. The long time with the camera in nature also provides many experiences.

Most images remain dormant on the hard drive forever. Others end up in photo books, calendars, websites or Instagram. A few and very special ones are printed every now and then and decorate a wall. That's about the greatest use dying a photo can have.

Each picture represents a point in time in my life. The memories of the place, what I experienced, the mood, emotions and much more are captured in this one picture.

This effect also causes a photographer's personal favorites to differ from what others would consider favorites or best images.

Through the experiences associated with the image, we build an emotional bond with the images. The objective perception of the aesthetics of one's own picture is therefore difficult for most photographers.

Of course, not every photo I take has a special story to tell. But some do have!

Episode 2 - Turning Point

There are many turning points in life. Big and small, significant or not so significant. In each case, a turning point marks a change, some very clear and others more subtle. The cover image of this story represents a turning point in two ways: one more on a personal level and one astronomical.

Episode 1 - Unexpected

Some days unexpected things happen. Such moments are not always something positive; but sometimes they are.

If you take multiple pictures that are special to you, within a short amount of time at the same location from completely different subjects - then something extraordinary has happened. You want to know what this shot of sand and stones has to do with a natural phenomenon in the sky?

PotM - The Photo of the Month

For a couple of years I added a "Photo of the Month" (FDM) in this section.

Ideally, this picture was also taken in the corresponding month. That didn't always work. Therefore, it can also be an image that I edited at the time. This way, some pictures that might not have found their way into one of the galleries had the chance to be shown.

Each picture has a short description of the story behind the picture. How did it come about? How was the weather? Why did I press the shutter button?

I hope you enjoy looking through the pictures!
