Fine Art Prints - Description

Fine Art Prints - product advice and information

I offer all photographs for sale in the form of printed images. High-quality prints of photographs are now often referred to as "fine art prints". What's behind the term and further information can be found on this page.

What are fine art prints?

There is no clear or unambiguous definition for the term "Fine Art Print". Rather, it is a term that has established itself, especially among photographers, to differentiate your printed images from "simple" photo prints. Literally translated it is "fine art prints".

By my definition, fine art prints are:

Printed images - in which every detail has been optimally prepared for printing and all available technical possibilities have been exhaustedin order to achieve the best possible result in terms of print quality and expressiveness.

This starts with the captured image, which in itself must have a certain expressiveness. Furthermore, the recorded image is optimized for later printing. For this, things such as contrast, colors, etc. are adapted in particular for the respective surface or material.

After all, the finished product, the "Fine Art Print", should have a certain artistic charisma and decorate walls.

General information

In order to live up to my definition of fine art prints, I am not offering all of my images for sale. It will only be one Selection of images offered that have a special look as prints on the wall. This radiation can have various effects. It can have a calming effect, fascinate, arouse longings or provoke some other type of reaction or emotion. In addition, all selected images are available for printing on the 3 materials has been adjusted.

If you like one of the pictures, you can use the corresponding contact form next to the picture to place your order. I will then get back to you as soon as possible with the relevant information and the next steps. All pictures are of course printed without my logo, which is embedded in every picture on this page.

I ask for your understanding that I cannot and do not want to compete with the delivery times that are often expected today. These prints are very high-quality and also high-priced products. Each step in the process is given the necessary time to meet the high quality standards.

None of the pictures are in stock and will only be ordered from the laboratory I trust. Over the past few years I have tested a wide variety of papers and surfaces in various laboratories. The result of this long "test series" is now reflected in the selection of products.

It takes about 3 weeks from the time you place your order to delivery.

Materials and surfaces

All my pictures are available on three different surfaces or materials. Which variant is right for you is primarily a matter of taste. Of course, there are also advantages and disadvantages of the surfaces.

There is no short introduction to the 3 different variants:

The form of presenting photographs, which is considered "classic and traditional" today, is by means of inkjet printing on photo paper. For this I only use Photo Rag paper from the traditional German manufacturer Hahnemühle. Due to the 100% cotton surface, it gives every picture a particularly matt and soft character. The fine surface structure ensures particularly detailed, sharp and three-dimensional looking images.

If you decide on a picture on Photo Rag, please note that I only deliver the printed picture. The picture has to be taken afterwards enteredto be framed. You can either do this yourself or a frame shop near you with it instruct.

Aluminum composite:

Aluminum composite is also often referred to as Alu-Dibond. Both names refer to the same product, an aluminum composite panel. Here the image is printed directly on an aluminum plate. The result is a very high quality photo product on a matt surface. This makes printing on aluminum composite particularly suitable for pictures that are to be hung in very bright rooms. Light coming in from the side through the window does not create any unpleasant reflections.

The aluminum composite plate has a thickness of 3 mm and is extremely stable and weatherproof. This makes these pictures suitable for hanging in damp rooms.

My aluminum composite pictures are all provided with a profile suspension. This is a rail that is attached to the back of the picture.

Acrylic glass:

I also offer my pictures on acrylic glass. The picture is printed directly from behind on the acrylic glass. The acrylic glass is additionally reinforced by an aluminum plate. Photo laboratories and art galleries call this type of acrylic glass presentation "Gallery Print". The acrylic glass pane in front of the picture creates a very special depth effect. Due to the glossy surface, this type of presentation has a very special luminosity, which can be intensified by external lighting. Prints behind acrylic glass come into their own when they are illuminated from above.

Due to the glossy surface, these images are particularly susceptible to reflections when light falls from the side.
